MDPV stands for **3,4-Methylenedioxypyrovalerone**. It is a synthetic stimulant of the cathinone class, chemically related to compounds found in the khat plant. MDPV acts as a potent norepinephrine–dopamine reuptake inhibitor, leading to stimulant effects such as increased alertness, euphoria, and energy, but it also carries a high risk of abuse, dependence, and adverse psychological or physical effects. It has been marketed illicitly as a “bath salt” or “research chemical” and is a controlled substance in many countries.
